Climate Change & How We Can Help To Prevent It?

Severe storms, flash flood, drought, typhoon, heat waves are what we experience more often in recent decades. Are these extreme weather conditions the effect of climate change? We are living in a world that is getting warmer. According to an ongoing temperature analysis conducted by scientists at NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), the average global temperature on Earth has increased by about 0.8° Celsius (1.4° Fahrenheit) since 1880. Two-thirds of the warming has occurred since 1975, at a rate of roughly 0.15-0.20°C per decade. Warmer globe meaning we will be experiencing more of the extremes.

What can we do to help?

Together, we can do plenty. This year giant supermarkets like Woolworths and Coles have stopped supplying single-use plastic bags for their groceries, encouraging people to reuse their bags. There are other steps individual like us can contribute to help prevent climate change, including sort our wastes and recycle whenever you can, reduce food wastes, grow more trees, conserve water, save on energy, walk to work…
